Hiraya Cove
Hiraya Cove
A high aerial over turquoise shallows and limestone karst islets, a white sand spit, one outrigger anchored off the point, coconut palms and a timber deck with daybeds at the shoreline.

El Nido, Palawan

Find us

Fly Manila to Lio Airport (ENI) — fifty-five minutes, twice daily — and we will meet you at the strip; the gate is twenty-five minutes down the coast road. From Puerto Princesa (PPS) it is a five-hour van transfer up the highway, which we book for you and which stops for lunch in Roxas. Every arrival is met, whatever the hour, and there is always somebody at the boat landing on the days the seas move an arrival onto the water.

The property's terms

Check-in
Check-in is from 2:00 PM. If you land earlier we will hold your bags, pour you something cold and put you by the pool; if the room is ready before then — and it often is out of high season — we will simply give it to you. Every arrival is met at Lio or at the boat landing, whatever the hour.
Children
Hiraya Cove is adults-first. Guests aged twelve and above are welcome throughout the property. The Pool Residences take families with children of any age, since each sits on its own parcel; the Casitas, Villas and Suites are reserved for twelve and above so that the middle of the day stays quiet.
Pets
We are not able to accommodate pets. Certified assistance animals are always welcome — tell us before you arrive so we can hold a ground-floor Garden Suite, set out water and a shaded rest area, and brief the crew.
Smoking
The whole property is non-smoking indoors, including the lanais and the decks. There are two designated open-air spots: the far end of the Sulo terrace, and the path behind the Dagat Centre. Vaping follows the same rule.
Quiet hours
Quiet hours run 10:00 PM to 7:00 AM across the property. Music at Sulo winds down by half past ten. Island time cuts both ways here — nothing starts early, and nothing runs late.

Who you'll meet

Set in type, not in a photograph.

  • 01

    Mariel Tabuena

    General Manager

Grew up in Taytay, two hours up the coast, and spent sixteen years running rooms and then whole properties in Coron and Boracay before coming back down the highway to open Hiraya Cove. Keeps one standing rule: no guest hears the word "unfortunately" before they hear an alternative.

  • 02

    Noel Barrameda

    Director of Rooms

Twelve years in front office, four of them on the night shift, which is where he learned that the questions that actually matter arrive after midnight. Runs housekeeping and the front desk on a two-shift roster, and still rakes the casita beach himself on the mornings he opens.

  • 03

    Bea Sarmiento

    Commercial Director

Came out of OTA account management, which is precisely why she now spends her days booking around them. Owns the rate calendar, the direct-booking mix and the Ely deployment; the month-over-month direct share is the number she is judged on, and she checks it before coffee.

  • 04

    Iñigo Lacsamana

    Executive Chef

Trained in Manila, then five years cooking in the Basque country, then home to cook the food he actually grew up eating. Buys at the Corong-Corong landing himself most mornings and will tear up the board at ten if something better comes off a boat at nine.
